Thursday 24th December: Today was warm and sunny. I was busy in the morning finishing off presents and preparing food, and the boys were happy to play with their cars and car tracks and read books. At lunchtime I popped into town to make some final deliveries and pick up final supplies, then was home all afternoon.
For tea we had roast rammy lamby which was scrummy, and soon it was time to get the stockings ready and prepare for Father Christmas. As we had finished tea Jonathan had suddenly announced that he hadn't yet written a letter to Father Christmas, and that he wanted to and there was only one thing he wanted to put in it - a remote-controlled mini car he had seen in Hammer Hardware in town. We pointed out that Father Christmas would be making final preparations to leave the North Pole and there wouldn't be time to get a letter to him BUT he could stand on the front steps and shout out and hope one of the elves might hear and be able to do something about it, but that it was unlikely at such short notice...
The photos are of the boys with their stockings, and a close-up of the table of provisions for Santa and his sleigh-crew. Being a warmer climate here the traditional glass of sherry for the jolly chap was replaced with a more thirst-quenching diet coke!
