Saturday 5th December: Warm and sunny and calm. This weekend was Scout / Cub / Kea Camp weekend at Atwill Park, a short distance from our house, on the edge of native bush. Unfortunately I had D&V overnight and this morning and so couldn't go. Another leader and a couple of children were missing with the same thing.
Steve was on-call but had to do all the running around of the boys too, but he soon realised that if he turned up at the right times at the Camp then food would find its way in his direction so he visited the Camp a lot, between taking calls and visiting patients!
The weather was perfect for the Camp and there was a big barbecue at lunchtime to celebrate 100 years of Scouting in Waimate.
The boys enjoyed themselves and were thoroughly worn out. I went later in the evening to collect them, after a quiet day at home mostly sleeping. I also picked our first strawberries.
The photos are of the strawberries, a stag in a field near Atwill Park, and the flagpole the Cubs made by lashing several long sticks together.
