Athletics

Wednesday 9th December: A mixed bag of weather. The morning was cool and grey but by lunchtime the nor'wester had arrived and it was 27 degrees, blustery and muggy. Just before tea-time the wind swung round to a bitter southerly and the temperature dropped to 16 degrees in half an hour. Then in the evening it rained heavily!
We schooled in the morning and then the boys played in the garden after lunch while I did some more weeding. We popped to the supermarket and then went on to Victoria Park for Junior Athletics. The boys enjoyed going along to this for two terms last summer but the sessions have changed to Wednesdays and clash with us being at Keas. But Keas has finished for the year and there are two more athletics sessions to go so we decided to join in. The boys enjoyed running races in their age-groups, shot-put, long jump, egg and spoon and a 500m run. Part way through the session the wind changed direction and all the little children in their shorts and t-shirts found it a little chilly. After the athletics our boys played with a skateboard on the velodrome, rolling down the slope on the top bends.
Home for tea and then I spent the evening finishing knitting a cardigan that really should be on its way to England by now!
