It's all coming together

Saturday 3rd October: Today started cool and grey, but was soon sunny and 19 degrees, then the wind picked up during the afternoon. Steve is on-call this weekend and had been called out before we even had breakfast. We packed up the cars and headed out the new house. The carpet fitters were there and during the day they managed to fit the vinyl, and the carpets in the hall and the front three rooms. It looks so different with all the colours coming together.
Steve was busy alternating between visiting patients and emptying out the loft and shifting other things up there. I cut the grass.
The boys found a tiny and manky hedgehog in the garden that looked dead. It was small, skinny and had lots of scabby areas and bald patches and was stretched out still in the grass with no protection. I got some meat out, left over at lunchtime and it soon nibbled at the processed chicken slices and found some energy to stand up, eat some more and then shuffle off into cover.
Steve's boss Barney called over with his grandchildren later in the afternoon to help us shear the backsides of the ewe and lamb. His experience and skill meant this was soon done plus both the sheep and the goat were drenched. I had made some triple chocolate muffins this morning and they had soon disappeared between us all.
In the evening Steve had some more calls to see to, and I watched the film "Empire of the Sun".
The photos are of the hedgehog and Barney with Lamb Chops.
