Peter's birthday

Friday 4th September: Peter was 7 today. We always have a day off schooling for one of our birthdays and Peter got to choose what he wanted to do as his birthday treat - he chose a trip to Chipmunks the soft play in Timaru.
Also the motorhome needed its Certificate of Fitness which needed to be done in Timaru.
Peter got up at 6.50am for his presents so was sent back to bed to wait until 7, which he did. He had great fun opening his presents - a book, a game, cycle computer, a light to clip on to a book, a bicycle bell and a skateboard-shaped eraser. He enjoyed a quick chat with his Grandma and Grandad by skype.
After breakfast we headed up to Timaru in the motorhome and were disappointed when we got to the testing centre that we need to book and we couldn't be seen until 4.30pm, eventhough the tv advert says just turn up. So we drove to another testing centre which happened to be right by Chipmunks. The tester invited us to stay inside the motorhome while it was tested - we enjoyed something like a fairground ride! From there we popped into the supermarket to get some food for lunch and then parked alongside a park so the boys played in the playground while I prepared the food (photo of playground with motorhome in the background). We ate at a picnic table in the park, including his first birthday cake (photo). But then as we were finishing a workman drove into and around the park, spraying everywhere with crystals of white chemicals, including our plates and cups (photo)!
We walked across the park and into Chipmunks and I enjoyed reading some magazines while the boys had a couple of hours play (photo).
After we drove home the boys had some computer time while I cooked tea and decorated Peter's birthday cake. The birthday tea Peter chose was salmon on pasta. I attempted to decorate the cake as a crocodile (photo). Our neighbours Jeanette and Allan, and Steve's boss Barney joined us for cake, candles and coffee. During caketime we spotted the beautiful moon from our kitchen window, with the sky in strips of purples and pale pinks as the light was fading.
Before bedtime we finished our storybook 'The Wizard's Warning'. Steve and I enjoyed a quiet evening in eventhough he was on-call again.
