Thursday 3rd September: Happy birthday Pamela. Today was forecast rainy but it was a cool but sunny day wherever we were.
First thing we headed down to Oamaru. We spent the morning poddling round different shops looking at toys and stickers and other things that boys like to spend time looking at.
We got to the swimming pool early so the boys had plenty of time to play before their lesson. The lesson went well and Peter managed the whole half hour without being given a time-out, for a change!
Straight after the lesson the boys got ready to have lunch out. They had the choice of Subway (our usual) or McDonalds (about a year since we last went). They chose McDonalds. The boys all ate their tiny portions of fries, ate little or none of their burgers once they saw them and said they wished they'd chosen Subway and didn't want to come back to McDs again. On the drive home they discussed getting a take-out from Subway and eating it in McDs so they could then play in the play area. So no I know what the attraction was.
Back in Waimate we did our milk delivery and called in at the house, finding one of the decorators there working hard which was great.
Home for pasta and pepperoni with garlic sauce, and then I baked birthday cakes and wrapped presents during the evening.
The photo is one of the beautiful Oamaru stone (limestone) buildings from Oamaru's heyday.
