Sunday 2nd August: An overcast day, blustery at times. A high of about 12 degrees.
In the morning we dropped Steve over to the house and I took the boys to Sunday School. Afterwards we drove out to the house to join Steve who was stripping wallpaper. As we had had a quote of $2655 to strip wallpaper we decided we might do this ourselves! We hired a wallpaper stripper from the hardware store, and as fast as we could get it off the walls, the boys picked it up and ran it down to the bonfire. Good team effort! Steve also used an angle grinder to cut up some of the roughcast covering from the garage we've already taken down, and fixed the electric fence (again). The goat and ewe enjoyed some carrots, apple and cabbage we brought for them, and the boys also collected lots of wood scattered over the land in the wheelbarrow and took it up to the woodshed next to the house. Our friend Ralph popped round and helped out too, which was great. The more we can get done, the sooner we can move in.
We got home for tea at 6pm and had chilli and rice. As the photo shows, then it was bath and hairwashing for the little guys as they smelt of bonfire smoke.
Later, Steve went back to the house to get some more work done there and I stayed home and watched the very moving film, "A short stay in Switzerland".
