Bare boards

Friday 7th August: This morning started frosty, but cheered up into another mild and sunny day. The boys had piano lessons to start the day then we returned home to finish another term's work. Both Edward and Peter completed their maths books and finished off some worksheets about antonyms.
After lunch I dropped Steve and the boys off at the house and drove to Timaru. I went to one of the double glazing companies to look at their products and then on to a DIY-type store that does kitchen designs. I gave them my drawings and plans of the kitchen and they turned them into computer-generated 3D pictures. I also bought two rolls of wall insulation and then struggled for ages with one of the staff to squeeze them into the back of the truck! The insulation, that is, not the staff member!
I returned to the house to find Steve had removed the interior wall of one of the bedrooms (see photo) and uncovered borer and rotten wood and dampness. This corner is one of the oldest of the house, probably 70 or 80 years old.
We got home late but I heated up a chicken casserole I had made earlier and we were soon full up. We started a new bedtime story today - The Indian in the Cupboard by Lynn Reid Banks. We had been recommended this by our friend Carmel ages ago but never got round to reading it, but we really enjoyed the opening chapter this evening.
