The end is in sight

Monday 10th August: The sun didn't shine today so it stayed much cooler than recent days, and the house didn't warm up either. We were meeting plumbers at the house at 8.30am and it was chilly that early. We decided to light a fire in the house. Well that would be a quick way of stripping the rest of the paper I guess, but I mean we lit a fire in the logburner! It soon made a difference in the main room. The morning was spent with even more wallpaper stripping - the end is nearly in sight, at last. I went to have my hair cut. Hooray - the last time I got to the hairdresser was last November so this was a well-overdue treat. I also picked up some bits and pieces in the shops and collected some carpet samples to take out to the house.
I was back at the house in time to make toasties for lunch and spent the afternoon ... yes, stripping paper. Our neighbours from in town, Jeanette and Allan, came out for the afternoon. Jeanette was excellent giving the boys some attention and helping clear up paper for the boys to take to the bonfire. Steve and Allan moved the Heat Transfer System vents from the back bedrooms to the main bedroom which should help to warm that room when the fire is alight.
I brought the boys home for tea and then we dropped Edward off at Cubs. Steve returned to the house to spend the evening ... stripping paper!
The photos are of the sunrise from the back step this morning, and some hu-hu grubs we found in rotten wood in the garden. The boys have found a box to keep them in (as pets?) and Steve has plans to use them to catch trout later in the year!
