Mum and Dad arrived

Thursday 5th November: Warm and sunny after rain overnight. The lambs were very wet when I caught them for their milk first thing this morning. Felicity actually sucked a bit of milk rather than just sitting on my lap and letting it dibble into her mouth! Shirley, meanwhile, sucked so hard she nearly swallowed the bottle with the milk in it!
Today was Guy Fawkes' Day so that was what we did for our schooling. The British Parliament website has a really good resource for children so we worked our way through that.
At 10.30am we got ready to go to meet my parents, who were arriving after a couple of days in Christchurch. We met them at the Cup and Saucer / Nosh Cafe and brought them and their suitcases back to the house.
After lunch they had a short nap while the boys and I made fireworks pictures with chalks, glue and glitter.
We spent a bus couple of hours playing games with the boys and making paper aeroplanes for them, then had a roast dinner and banana chocolate teabread for pudding.
In the evening we had our first skype chat with my brother Kevin in England. It was an odd "conversation" though because he could see and hear us, but we could not see or hear him. This means we said something or asked a question, then waited for him to type the answer! This somewhat dampened any spontaneity and hopefully the technology will work better next time we try. Great news, though - his England hockey team won their tournament in Hong Kong.
