Where is everyone else?

Sat 21st Feb: Steve now took into full consideration the dwindling milk supplies, battery power for the fridge, flat toothbrush battery, non-existent chocolate hoard, low supplies of 3 types of insect repellant and my rapidly decreasing tolerance due to all the aforementioned and decided he’d book us in for another night! Fortunately the weather was absolutely stunning and so the solar panel helped keep the fridge going and we all drank coke instead of milk.
We walked south-east to the next bay, called Goat Bay. The walk was through forest, with the loud chittering of grasshoppers and occasional tuneful call of wild birds. On the way, on the headland, we were able to look back at the bay we were camped on. The gold of the sand and gorgeous water colour are amazing (first picture).
However, Goat Bay turned out to be even better. There were two other people there when we first arrived but they soon moved on, and we had an hour or so playing. The other four photos were taken while we were there. I hope you’re not growing tired (or jealous??) of the beaches we’re going to! There’s even a photo of me – very rare as I’m usually the one that carries the camera. When we left there was still no-one else on the beach.
After lunch the boys played down on Totaranui beach and we used the smoker to cook lamb cutlets for tea. A strong nor’wester blew in which made people scatter to repeg their tents, and also sent the sandflies into hiding. Hoorah!
