All at sea.

Sunday 5th April: End of Daylight Saving, so an extra hour in bed! Today was warm but a thick grey cloud covered the sky all day. It became quite breezy as the day went on.
We walked down into Akaroa and headed for the wharf to join a jet catamaran for a trip around the harbour and its sites. We had a fun couple of hours out but the ocean was quite choppy once we left the harbour and it became a little more lively until we returned deep into the harbour. In fact the later trip was cancelled as a result.
We spotted Hector's dolphins and they started swimming around the boat and then surfed along just under the front of the boat! These are small dolphins and were described as a 'rugby ball with fins'! There are only about 7000 left in the world, we were told and we saw about 3 or 4. We also saw a colony of fur seals and various native seabirds. Geological features were all volcanic in origin but there were huge caves to enormous cliffs to wow us.
We walked back to the campsite for lunch and the boys enjoyed playing in the site's playground in the afternoon.
The photos are of some of the things we saw on our boat trip.
